Quartz Countertops: Heat Resistance and Durability

Heat Resistance:


Engineered Stone: Approximately 90–95% natural quartz is mixed with resins and colors to make quartz countertops. When it comes to heat resistance, its designed composition outperforms many conventional countertop materials.


Heat Tolerance: Generally speaking, quartz is unaffected by temperatures as high as 150°F (65°C). It can therefore be used to handle hot pots and pans for brief periods of time.
Usage Suggestions:

Trivets and Hot Pads: Although the countertop is heat resistant, it is nevertheless recommended to use trivets or hot pads to shield it from extended exposure to intense heat. Damage like discolouration or cracking can result from extreme temperatures or thermal shock, which is sudden fluctuations in temperature.


Heat Sources: Steer clear of directly placing hot baking sheets, electric griddles, or slow cookers on top of quartz surfaces.

Durability:


Resistance to Chips and Scratches:

Hardness: Quartz has a Mohs hardness rating of about 7, making it one of the toughest minerals on the planet. Because of this, quartz worktops are extremely resistant to scratches from regular use.


Durability of the Edges: Although the surface is very scratch-resistant, heavy or sharp items may cause the edges and corners to chip more easily. Such damage can be avoided by using cutting boards and exercising caution when handling heavy cookware.

Resistance to Stains:

Non-Porous Nature: Because quartz is not porous, liquids cannot pass through it. Because of this, they are extremely unlikely to get stained by ordinary household items like wine, coffee, oils, and acidic meals.


Simple Maintenance: It’s easy to clean quartz worktops.

Influence Resistance:

Durability: Quartz worktops are resilient enough to survive normal kitchen mishaps and dings caused by utensil drops without suffering major damage.


Repairability: A quartz countertop can frequently be professionally restored to return it to its original state if it does chip or crack.
